I just came back from watching "Journey To The Center of The Earth" with my wife and 13 yr old daughter and had a GREAT time. I highly recommend this movie if you are looking for a family type movie. Not only was this movie family friendly but it was in 3-D as well. There were all kinds of really cool scenes in it that had you jump in your seats a bit. Without giving the movie away, it is loosely based on the original movie which starred James Mason and Pat Boone. (Yes, I'm old enough to remember watching the original). But this one has so much more cool action shots and the storyline moves along a bit faster than the original. If there are any moms or dads out there who read this, please believe me, this was a neat movie to take the kids to. You don't have to worry about any profanity or nudity or gory violence. Just remember those 3-D glasses are kinda big for little faces to use so you may want to keep that in mind. So the next time you head out to the movies, keep this movie in your list of possibilities. You wont be disappointed.

Okay...So here's the deal. The other evening my son Daniel, came over for dinner with his girlfriend Jessica. While we were waiting to eat we somehow got on the subject of how some of us liked wearing shoes and some liked wearing sandals. I have always had an aversion to walking around sock-less/shoe-less. My daughter and Jessica were saying how they like being barefoot or wearing sandals because their toes are free. They said they had "Free-Toes!" I said I cant walk around barefooted cause it bothers me. I guess that all started when I was young and I had a series of incidents over a short period of time. One day I was outside barefoot and stepped on a bee that actually stung me. Not much longer(maybe a few weeks) I was outside barefooted and stepped on a nail which went straight up into my foot. Then maybe within another a few months I was outside barefooted and stepped on broken glass which I didn't see in the grass. Enough was enough. No longer was I going outside without shoes and that kinda turned into never walking around inside without at least socks on. I don't know, it only seems logical too me. So while my daughter and Jessica think shoe-less is the way to go I say no way. Socks and shoes for me. No "Free-Toes" as far as I'm concerned. They must be wrong. After all, they both also think gum is a candy!

Today I will be writing about a game our family has been playing over the past few weeks. This game (Scattergories) is fun and easy to use but challenging to play. A round of playing can take about 20-30 minutes or you can play several rounds and play for a couple of hours if you want. We have done both. Once we were getting ready to leave the house and only had about twenty minutes and we played a round before we left. The game for those of you who have not played yet is basically a pretty easy concept. You have a list of categories (12 to be exact) and you have a dice that you roll which has most of the alphabet on it. Whatever letter you roll, that is the letter you have to find a word to match with each category. For example if the category was "Things that fly" and the letter rolled on the dice was a "B", you could write down bird or buzzard or balloon. But the trick is to be original because you only get to score a point if no one else has that word on their list. So that's a quick explanation of how to play. So we were playing the other night and we came up on the category of "candies" and the letter was "I". Someone wrote down "Icebreakers" and a vote wa taken that this was not a candy but a gum. So, I wanted to ask you Scattergory players out here what do you think? Is this gum a candy or something else? And if something else, what is it? I know, I know...silly question. But hey, thats my entry for today and Im sticking with it !
Here is an interesting little piece of information my wife shared with me recently. Some of you may have already seen or heard about this, but maybe there are those who will see this for the first time. It is soooo cool, that I will try and not make this too long. Well OK, did you know that every living being on this earth has cells in them which are cohesive and in very basic terms, keep all the stuff inside you together? That's my non-technical description of what "Laminin" does. You can look it up if you want a more precise descriptive narrative but for now trust me on this. Anyway, a Pastor (Louie Giglio) gave a sermon on this when he discovered this from a friend of his. The amazing thing is what the structure of Laminin looks like. Take a look. It is the shape of a cross. The one cell in our bodies that keeps things cohesive (together) is in the shape of the cross. How amazing is that!! God is awesome! Thousands of years ago, before the world ever knew much of anything about science or biology, Paul wrote these words, "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:15-17) I believe in my heart that God knew before He even created Adam that this cell would look just like this and that one day someone would discover this and we would be able to share this information in just this way. Call me crazy if you want, but you will never convince me that this is not the case. God is so cool, so awesome and He loves you!
Greetings !
I have to tell you a little story about this little thing that happened that kind of took us by surprise. I now know that there are Smallville fans out there and quite a few from what I can gather. I had never even heard about this show until about a year ago. I was minding my own business when my brother came by and gave me the first episode of the series. I thought, hmmm, that was pretty kool so I watched the next one and then the next one and then....well, you get the picture. I went out and bought the box set of the first season. My wife and kids weren't too interested in it but I kept watching through the first season. One day my wife was walking by and kind of stopped and started watching. At first it was just a couple of minutes of one episode then a few more minutes of the next episode. Before you knew it, she was sitting there with me and watching whole episodes. Since we were watching it so regularly, our two daughters started watching also. Well, we got to the end of the season and guess what? Yup, we bought the second season, then the third, fourth, fifth and six season. We watched them all and it was great! It was like watching a movie if we watched two or three in a row. Okay, I will admit it, we watched 5 in a row more than once. What can I say. We were hooked on the show. Now we are waiting for the next season to start (and I hear it is the last season) so we can see how it all ends. By the way, in the midst of all that we also got our son's girlfriend hooked on the show and she borrowed all the box sets from us to watch all the episodes and catch up. It was really a strange thing because we would run into people (strangers) while shopping and it would turn out that they were Smallville fans too. Pretty crazy, but true. So we are just waiting and hoping that at least the final season will be a good one. Or maybe there will be a spinoff, who knows ?
